One of the oldest surviving farmhouses within the Chicago city limits, the building received Chicago Landmark status on July 31, 1990.〔(Wingert House ), City of Chicago Department of Planning and Development, Landmarks Division (2003). Retrieved on 2007-06-19.〕 It is part of the Norwood Park neighborhood. The house was built in 1854 as the home of John Wingert, a German immigrant who had fled his homecountry due to religious persecution.
